Mater is a furniture and lighting company founded in 2006 in Copenhagen, Denmark, by Henrik Marstrand. It makes stools, chairs, tables and outdoor furniture, using recycled aluminium, recycled plastic, FSC-certified wood and waste-based materials.
Its Matek materials are blends developed from industrial fibre and plastic waste, and a take-back system launched in 2022 lets Matek furniture be returned for recycling. Mater works with designers including Space Copenhagen, Patricia Urquiola, and Jørgen and Nanna Ditzel. On Formground it is shown through 492 pieces, each linked to its own page.
