Maruni is a wood furniture maker in Hiroshima, Japan, founded in 1928 as Showa Bentwood Factory and renamed Maruni Wood Industry in 1933. It makes chairs, sofas, stools and tables, including the Hiroshima series developed under art director Naoto Fukasawa, which has a natural wood finish with almost no paint or varnish.
Maruni works with outside designers: Fukasawa has been art director since 2010, Jasper Morrison joined in 2011 and Cecilie Manz in 2022. The factory is in Hiroshima prefecture and showrooms are in Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima, Hatsukaichi and Fukuoka. On Formground it is shown through 164 pieces, each linked to its own page.
